NextScripts Social Network Auto Poster (SNAP Plugin for WordPress)
Most small businesses that contact me for help with their websites have some sort of a social media presence, but very few are active with all the social media they NEED to be active with in order to have it actually benefit their SEO campaigns. I don’t blame them, I have personally lapsed in my posting to my businesses Facebook Page, Google + page, Linkedin profile, and until about 1 hour ago, I didn’t even bother with Twitter. This is because it can be overwhelming to come up with content to share with your followers and then to remember to log in to your respective accounts and posts it out to your Social Network.
Auto Posting to Social Media made easy (kind of)
I decided that it was time that I get with the times and start trying to actively build my followers (to gain a little SEO juice / build my business), but I HATE having to go to all my pages. This hatred resulted in some of my posts getting posted to my Facebook page (by default I’m logged into that more than my other social media profiles), but not all of the content being posted to all of my profiles.
Enter the NextScripts SNAP plugin for WordPress and automatically posting your blog content is made easy (kind of). The reason I say “kind of” easy is because the setup is a bit complicated – especially to the non coder out there.
Affordable help with NextScrips SNAP plugin or WordPress I offer assistance at VERY reasonable rates.
Social Network Auto Poster setup process
With each social network that you want to auto post your content to – you will have to log in to the developers portal for those networks and create an “app” to work with the plugin. Unfortunately, there is not an easy way to do this, but NextScripts made it as easy as possible with a different set of instructions on how to create apps for the respective social network sites. In my case – I wanted to post to Facebook, Google +, Twitter, and Linked In.
This resulted in me having to create 4 apps, and enter 4 different sets of API keys in order to let the plugin work it’s magic.
Make sure you use the “Test Post” feature after setting up your Google / Linked In profiles in the app. My first attempt to use this new app (this post) failed in Google + and LinkedIn because both of those websites saw “suspicions” activity. You have to authorize both those sites individually to let them know it’s safe and you meant to do it.
Auto posting your content
After you complete the setup – you will see a new area on your posts page. In my case, it’s located below my Yoast SEO plugin (another great plugin I highly recommend). I love the UI! It’s very easy to see which words you can change on the posts that will be published to your social media network. For example – the default is “New post (%TITLE%) has been published on %SITENAME%” but that’s incredibly boring. I can easily change the text from “New Post has been published on” to “Highly Recommended plugin (%TITLE%) from Chad Musgrove of %SITNAME%”! That sounds much more engaging, and is way more likely to get people to click through and read my AWESOME CONTENT right here on my blog. 🙂
This post will be my first test of the plugins capabilities (or my ability to set it up properly) 🙂
Update ***** (after pressing “publish” on this post)
The plugin worked flawlessly. I highly recommend all small businesses install this on their websites now. (If you don’t have a WordPress site – you should probably contact me for a website quote)
***** If you found this website / blogpost as a result on clicking a link from on of the social media sites in my network – will you do me a favor and comment below? I would love to know that (of course I can check my analytics and find out later, but your comments would provide me with instant gratification! 🙂
